Handling Seminar May 21-22 2016

Please join us for a handling seminar in Des Moines on May 21-22, 2016. 8AM-4PM both days

We are delighted to be able to offer this exciting seminar by Norma Smith!

Saturday will be covering aspects of showing for both beginners and experts.  Demonstrations and discussion will include the way to stack your dog, discussion about the best pacing, what to do when your dog posts, and the best speed for your dog and why.  Ring procedures will be discussed.  We will be working one on one with you and your dog’s issues.  And, most importantly, any questions you can think of will be addressed.

Sunday will be a continuation of more one on one help, questions and answers.  In the afternoon, there will be a mock dog show, but it won’t be your dog that is being judged – think of this as the best junior handling class for adults!  Participants without a dog will be able to observe and ask questions while the show is occurring.  Awards will be given for the best in seminar, most improved, most professionally dressed, etc.  Bring your show clothes and prepare for some competition with your new found knowledge!

Seminar Details:

Advanced:  This class is for handlers who have handled for two more years OR who have handled at least one dog to their championship.  Cost is $150 with dog.

Beginner:  This class is for the novice exhibitor.  Cost is $150 with dog.

Observer:  This is extremely beneficial for those who want to attend and have a great opportunity to listen and learn without the distraction of a dog.  Cost is $75.

Special price for Junior Handlers: $75 with a dog; free as a spectator.

-Dogs not being worked must be crated.  Dogs must be crate trained and well behaved as they will be crated away from the working area of the seminar.  Disruptive dogs will be asked to be removed from the building.

-Bring appropriate dog supplies, your own chairs and floor covering for your dog.

Included will be morning refreshments, snacks and lunch both days.  We will be indoors, in fully matted rings, at the Des Moines Obedience Training Club (1423 Army Post Rd, Des Moines, IA 50315).
